Oh and my two cents in on the criticism of FF13, I do see its weakness. But I don’t understand the bashing. It is quite linear story wise and you don’t get to identify with the characters. Snow was a douche, which actually lead me to liking Hope because he wanted to stab the man in the eye or something.
I hate preference elitism. To all those high and mighty thinking they are so much better than others because they dislike this. I, for one, found this much more tolerable than FF12. You know what, I think 12 didn’t even deserve to have the FF name. The battle system were too “arcade”. The times are changing but before Square used to produce FF solely for RPG fans whom are tacticians rather that hack and slash battlers. If you found it to easy that’s because you didn’t play it once through. There was a time when FF fans brag how low their level was when they defeated the game… now it’s about side quests and item upgrades. I found FF13 as a returning to their roots it wasn’t fantastic but I do appreciate the effort. I don’t like the auto-battle command which is why I don’t use it, paradigm shifts which changes the script of the other party members, I think was a good addition. Besides that, it was beautiful. The story could have received more care, though I do think “Gods are harnessing humans as energy for their own purpose” is quite interesting, if cliche in the Fantasy storyline genre.
Do I think it was worth my 50 bucks…. I do. Will I buy the sequel, I will. Does that make me less intelligent than others who wont… questionable.
